Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my account?

Inside the app: Profile → Danger Zone → Delete account. You'll be asked to re-enter your password. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — all your transactions, cards, categories, and budgets are permanently removed.

How do I export my data?

Profile → Export data. The app generates a JSON file containing all your transactions, budgets, cards, and categories, then opens the system share sheet so you can save it to Files, email it, or send it to another device.

What happens if I forget my password?

On the login screen, tap Forgot password and enter your email. You'll receive a password reset link.

Why does Wally ask for Face ID / Touch ID?

To protect your financial data. Biometric authentication is optional — if you don't enable it, the app falls back to your device passcode or opens directly. Wally never sees or stores your biometric data; it's handled entirely by iOS or Android.

Does Wally see my actual card numbers?

No. The app only stores a label you choose (e.g. "Personal") and the last four digits, for visual reference. We don't have access to full card numbers, expiration dates, or CVV codes, and Wally cannot make payments.

How does NFC expense entry work?

Android: Tap an NFC tag programmed with the URI wally://add (using a free app like NFC Tools), and Wally launches directly into the quick-entry sheet.

iOS: Apple restricts background NFC, so we use iOS Shortcuts instead. Create a Shortcuts Automation: NFC tag → Open URL wally://add. Tag triggers work from the lock screen. You can also use the built-in "Add Expense" App Intent to ask Siri to log expenses for you.

Is my data backed up?

Your data is stored in our cloud database and synced across devices. We recommend periodically exporting your data (Profile → Export data) as a personal backup, since we do not guarantee permanent storage.

Which currencies are supported?

You can choose from several common currencies in Settings → Currency. Amounts are displayed only — Wally does not perform conversions or fetch exchange rates.

Does Wally connect to my bank?

No. Wally is a manual tracking app — you enter transactions yourself. It does not connect to bank accounts, payment networks, or perform any real transactions.

Why won't the dev build install on my iPhone?

If you're testing a development build, your device's UDID must be registered with the developer account. Production builds installed from the App Store don't have this restriction.
